OUT NOW: Sparks Will Fly – A Sports Romance for Nerds

Sparks Will Fly Available Now on KU & Paperback

The day has arrived! Sparks Will Fly is finally here!

This book means so much to me, and it’s almost one that didn’t make it into the world at all. I struggled hard with it, the first draft flopped monumentally with my beta readers. I was ready to throw it away, but something tugged at me to try again—and it wasn’t just the fact that I’d already paid for the cover. For me, Mari’s story is a love letter to myself, and the people who inspire me, and I didn’t want to just leave that on my shelf for no one to see. It’s a radical act of acceptance that I, too, live in a body with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome that’s failing me day by day, but that it’s still my body and it can love and live and achieve if I listen to it and love it the way it deserves to be loved. Mari isn’t a self insert, she’s the person I want to be.

Not only is Mari’s individual story important, but the core of the story, her relationship with Jacob is a tender reminder of the love we can show ourselves through forgiveness and asking for help. It’s a story about how we can be strong alone, but without the trust and support of those we love, and who love us, we can do anything. (And have plenty of fun and spicy moments too!)

I’ve been overwhelmed by the early response to Sparks Will Fly. From the beautiful, emotional reviews of people seeing themselves on page for the first time, to the amount of preorders—it’s nothing I could have predicted in my wildest dreams. While I’m so proud where the story ended up, it’s still such a unique story that isn’t imbued with relentless positivity—only relentless determination and hope—and those stories don’t often get the love they deserve. I’ve been so honored that Sparks Will Fly means as much to others as it does to me.

If you’ve stumbled upon this post, I hope you’ll take the chance on my sports romance for nerds, and all the weirdness and wonderfulness on it’s pages. And if you’ve already read it—thank you so much.
